RISK’s team of consultants have broad experience in process safety and risk management. Each brings unique experience to contribute – from running a nuclear submarine to working in the aerospace industry - which builds a balanced team that can think outside the box for creative solutions.
Our facilitators have experience utilizing various methodologies including Hazards and Operability (HAZOP), Structured What-If (SWIFT), Checklist, BowTie and LOPA techniques. Their work includes both onshore studies for facilities in the refining, petrochemical, chemical and pharmaceutical industries and offshore assets such as Gulf of Mexico FPS, and LNG terminals. Their experience with project PHA studies, from HAZID level to detailed design stage level reviews, has earned accolades from project teams.
Ms. Murata is an experienced hazard and risk assessment consultant providing technical expertise in process safety and risk management, petroleum, environmental and electrical engineering. Ms. Murata has provided training, safety and operations guidance to onshore facilities in China, and throughout the United States. This work includes extensive experience in process safety, process hazard analyses, development of Management of Change (MOC) and Inherently Safer Systems (ISS/IST) programs, and strategic implementation plans for environmental compliance. She has experience leading PHA studies using the hazard and operability (HAZOP) and What-If/Checklist analysis techniques. She holds a BA in Applied Physics, BS in Applied Mathematics and certifications in LOPA, SIS and SIL identification and calculations. She is Chevron RiskMan2 and Chevron PHA, SOA/SSFA Certified. She began her career in environmental regulatory compliance in the electronics industry; identifying areas of concern, and developing programs and training for compliance with new regulations. Upon entering the hazardous chemicals industries, in her role as assistant engineer, she started assisting with process safety compliance in multiple areas; including MOC and PSI management, PHA’s, and training. After working as an engineer, she left to join a process safety consulting firm. It was while working with this company and consulting with multiple firms that she realized a need for quality control and accountability among consultants. It was due to this need that she started her own company, Risk Integrity Safety Knowledge, Inc. With her language skills in Portuguese and Spanish, she is also able to help expand awareness of process safety management in countries outside the United States.
